These common additives can disrupt the skin’s natural balance, leading to dryness, irritation, or long-term sensitivity. Instead, we choose clean, effective ingredients that nourish, protect, and restore—because radiant skin should never come at a cost.

🚫 What They Are & Why They’re Harmful:

Parabens

Parabens are synthetic preservatives used to extend shelf life and prevent mold or bacteria in cosmetics. You’ll often see them listed as methylparaben, butylparaben, or propylparaben.

Why it’s a concern:
Parabens can disrupt hormone function by mimicking estrogen in the body, and have been found in breast tissue samples. While not banned in all countries, many clean beauty advocates avoid them due to potential endocrine disruption and cumulative exposure risks.

Sulfates

Sulfates, like Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS) and Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLES), are used as cleansing agents to create foam in face washes and shampoos.

Why it’s a concern:
While effective at removing dirt and oil, sulfates can strip the skin of its natural moisture barrier, leading to dryness, irritation, and increased sensitivity—especially for those with delicate or acne-prone skin.

Phthalates

Phthalates are chemicals used to make fragrances last longer or plastics more flexible. In skincare, they’re often found in “fragrance” or “parfum” listings.

Why it’s a concern:
Phthalates are linked to hormonal disruption, reproductive harm, and are flagged as potential developmental toxins. They’re increasingly avoided in clean formulations, especially in products used daily.
